About Us

Thanks to “Self Directed Support”, Bridge2IntegrationX is an organisation that enables a young woman with Cerebral Palsy as she works towards her university degree and leads an independent, fulfilling life. We employ Personal Assistants/ Enablers who help make that possible—offering the right kind of support at the right time.

Whether it’s helping out with university tasks, getting around the city, or being there for day-to-day routines and social plans, our PAs enable Poppy to achieve her goals while living life on her own terms.

We’re all about practical support and respect. We know with the right team in place, anything is possible.

The Role of an Enabler

Being an enabler means facilitating and supporting an individual to help achieve their goals and maximize their independence, rather than simply providing assistance. It involves empowering people to take control of their lives and make their own choices.

Scribing

Scribing is a daily task Poppy requires during term time. It involves listening carefully to what she says and typing it into her MacBook.

It’s important to remember that this is Poppy’s work—your role is simply to be the hands for her ideas and instructions.

Cooking

Cooking is a skill and activity that Poppy really enjoys. She loves creating tasty meals and experimenting with new recipes. The role of an enabler in the kitchen is to support with tasks like chopping, handling hot items, and helping bring each dish together.

Poppy enjoys chatting about food while she cooks and is always open to new ideas, recipes, and tips—it’s a shared experience that’s both practical and fun.

Outings

Outings with Poppy can vary depending on what’s going on in her life. Some are bigger days out—like heading to Loch Ness for a summer walk—while others are more routine, like a trip to Tesco for the weekly shop.

No matter the outing, the enabler’s role is to support Poppy in having a smooth, enjoyable experience. That includes helping her pack what she needs, being aware of her safety, and making sure she’s able to get the most out of each activity—whether it’s a fun adventure or a quick errand!

Accessibility In Inverness

Accessibility In Inverness

Below is a list of Poppy’s favourite places to go in Inverness, and information on how these business navigate accessibility.

Black Isle Bar

Craft Beer and Wood-Fired Pizza
Inverness

Black Isle Bar is one of my favourite spots in Inverness, great beer and fantastic pizza! The staff are always kind and welcoming, even when it’s busy. The downstairs area is fairly spacious and wheelchair-accessible, with a step-free entrance. It can get a bit tight when crowded. There is unfortunately, no access to the upper floors and beer garden.

Black Isle Bar

Jimmy Badgers

Bar and Restaurant
Inverness

Jimmy Badgers is one of my go-to spots. I’ve been many times and always had a great experience. The staff are lovely and helpful. The step-free entrance and spacious layout make it easy to move around, with well-spaced, comfortable tables.

The White House
Inverness

The White House is a great cocktail bar with friendly, attentive staff. There's a small step at the entrance, but the team quickly provides a ramp. Inside is spacious and easy to navigate.

Eden Court is largely accessible with disabled access on all floors and designated seating in the cinema and auditorium. It offers audio descriptions, subtitles, signed events, and a limited number of free companion tickets. The layout of the café and bar is clear and wheelchair-friendly.

None of the places mentioned above provide a Changing Place toilet, thankfully there is one at the Eastgate Shopping Centre in Inverness. The Lachie Smith Room, next to Shop Mobility in the level 2 lift lobby of the Falcon Gallery car park. You will need a radar key and unfortunately it closes at 9pm.

Inverness Leisure have provided specific changing areas for their customers who might need more assistance than others to get changed

Within the areas they have provided

  • a height adjustable adult-sized changing bench

  • a tracking hoist system

  • a shower

  • adequate space in the changing area for the disabled person and up to two carers

  • a centrally placed toilet with room either side for the carers

  • a screen to allow the disabled person and carer some privacy

  • wide tear off paper roll to cover the bench

  • a large waste bin for disposable pads
